<aside> 💡 What do these three shapes mean to you? Do they invoke any nostalgia for the arithmetic and art you did back in grade school? Are they just symbols you see in your daily life that make up this and that? Well, to WBC, they are those things, and because they are so fundamentally widespread in our daily lives, they act as the symbolic placeholder for our belief in blockchain and decentralized ledger technologies as a whole. Our Bread and Butter.

Specifically, that blockchain and DLT can maximize the health, wealth, and wisdom of all life on Earth. Does this sound like a vision that points in a better direction than impending climate change, market collapse, and an increasingly-polar political landscape? Of course, it does! This application of technology with the aims of ultimate health, wealth, and wisdom is exactly what WBC means by “Circle, Square, Triangle”.
For those doubting the potential of these systems, we will address this doubt throughout the semester. For now, keep in mind the speed at which these technologies develop. Also, consider the fact that the last time civilization had an upgrade in accounting was in the mid-15th century (credits and debits — double entry accounting). Flash forward to today, and triple entry accounting (blockchain), is presenting new means of organizing resources in ways never before thought possible — a Cambrian explosion facilitated by this tech is dawning.
To get down to brass tacks, WBC uses the “Circle, Square, and Triangle” as symbolic reminders of what will come from this next evolution in technology. WBC even makes this trichotomous relationship distinct for the sake of our operations and the interests of our members.
In particular:
A movement that is attempting to upend the currently unjust systems of publishing, defeat the replication crisis, and generally use DLT to redefine the global scientific process.
The use of financial protocols living on blockchains to give people the power to “be their own bank”, and create novel peer-to-peer financial systems while minimizing the need of trusting an intermediary to hold their assets through the process.
The exploration into how we can codify the dynamics of human organization, grease those cogs with incentive design, and establish robust collective decision-making mechanisms to best reflect the human will and “self”.
Before we take a deeper dive into these three, let’s examine how an interested party such as yourself onboards to our club:
